Plans

7 Mar

I found this the other day when I was simplifying throwing away the mass of papers my children have collected between church and school.  I came across this one and turned it over.  On the back I found this verse.  Love it.  It’s one I go back to time and time again in good times and bad.  I also thought that it looked like it was the perfect size for my 8×10 matted frame.  And, it was.  So in it went and it now hangs in our play/school area.  Perfect.

Plans, hopes, dreams.  We all have them.  Especially when it comes to our kids.  I am learning that when God says He has good plans for us.  It’s true.  Plans for a hope and a future.  Absolutely!  Plans not to harm me.  Uh oh, sometimes I get hung up on this part.  As I mulled this one over, I am realizing over and over again, God’s definition of good and my definition are a little different.  My definition of good is what feels good to me, no stress, it brings peace, Happy!  God’s definition of good is still good.  It’s what makes me stronger.  What I want and what I need is definitely not the same.  If I got all of what I wanted and just a tad of what I need, I would end up like some folks say, “All show and no stay.”  God is looking for people with stay ya’ll.  He is stay.    He’s faithful and good. Always.  Even when it doesn’t match up with our definition.  How do I know that?  Well, that’s kind of the theme of this blog.  Rockin’ what ya got–we can do that because He is good. Always.

Never be surprised where you may find God waiting to teach/re-teach you a lesson.  He may turn up in the bottom of that basket full of papers waiting for you to purge!
