What would this world be without it?
Maybe you’ve had merciless days. I know I have. Maybe you’ve been on the dishing out end of that lack of mercy. Yes. Guilty too.
Mercy truly is a gift. It’s a gift given to us by our Savior. His plan was mercy from the beginning and before. See, He came to rescue us, not to abandon. Never to leave us fatherless, or alone. But to shower us with His unending mercy.
You see, unlike us, it’s part of who He is. Kind of like love, He cannot help but show us mercy. It’s his DNA.
Since mercy is such a huge part of our redemption story, He shares it freely with us. A new supply fresh every. single. day.
I believe it is God’s plan for us to show as much mercy as we receive. Is it even possible? Well of course not, but we should try. God’s people should be known as merciful. To all. Not just to those we think deserve mercy. See, where would we be if mercy was doled out based on what some mortal man thinks is appropriate. Men who are given to bias, prejudice, selfishness, moodiness, etc. I really don’t want my life to hang in that balance. Do you?
No, the mercy we’ve received is the mercy we should share. Unconditionally. Whether it’s deserved or not. Whether it will be used or squandered. No matter the outcome, good or bad.
Choose mercy. Every time. (I preach this sermonette to myself.)
I would love to hear your experiences with mercy. Feel free to hang out a bit and share in the comments.
