Fall Breakfast

15 Sep

Breakfast, Yum!  I have an amazingly perfect breakfast for you that you’ll want every weekend this fall.  And, it’s super easy.

I used to HATE breakfast.  Ask my Mom.

Then, I met him.

My husband.  He’s taught me a lot.  And one of those things is to LOVE breakfast!  It is my favorite meal now.  Sometimes, we even eat it for dinner, and lunch and snack………mmmm?  Maybe I go to extremes?  Nah.  It’s really that good.

So, here is a simple fall favorite of ours.

Shhhh, don’t tell my kids, but it’s really good for you too.

Now, here is my disclaimer.  Don’t get your hopes up that I am blogging about a recipe.  I would not class myself as a good cook.  I have mastered a few things…I think.  Unless I’m tired.  Or sick.  Or……….yeah, sometimes I just ruin it.  That’s life.  Now that I’ve said that…no pressure.

Yummy Oatmeal

3 cups boiling water

1 cup steel cut oats

pinch of kosher salt

half a cup of milk or heavy cream

brown sugar to taste

blueberries—fresh or frozen

Put the water on to boil in a medium size pot and add pinch of salt.  Once it reaches a boil, then stir in the oats and turn heat down to low.  Cover.

Set timer for twenty minutes.

While the oatmeal is cooking, I prepare the boys’ bowls with the brown sugar.

Once twenty minutes have passed, stir the oats, add the milk and serve!

Top with blue berries and stir in the brown sugar.

Soooo good.

This makes five good size bowls.

Hope you enjoy and it becomes a favorite at your house too.

Happy fall.

The lovely pic above is from a cool blog, tastespace.  Now, they can cook.  Really cool food-togrophy too!  Their pic turned out great, so share the oatmeal love…..looking forward to exploring some of their other healthy recipes.
