Another Homekeeping Tool

26 Apr

Happy in a bottle

Time for another one of my favorite Homekeeping Tools.  Mrs. Meyers is something like  a treat for me.  Maybe treating yourself to a cleaning product sounds super weird to you, but once you’ve smelled this stuff, I think you’ll understand.

It makes cleaning time, happy time for me.

It smells clean and fresh.  Not too much, and not too little.  Plus it works great.  Everything I have tried it on works like a champ.  Bathrooms, floors, counters, fixtures, walls, toys, my car…you name it.

I really like the all purpose cleaner because it is dilutable (is that a word?).   I take maybe a tablespoon and put it in my empty counter top spray bottle, then fill with warm water.  That lasts me forever (unless the boys make a really huge mess).

I recently tried the dish soap (COUPON) and loved it.  A tiny drop is all you need.

So, Mrs. Meyer’s is definitely a cleaning happy for me.  What product is your happy for cleaning time at your house?  I would love to hear about it.  Share a link or a story in the comments section.

Growing Up

21 Apr

My baby turned 9 today.  This particular birthday has been emotional for me.  I don’t know if its because 9 is half way to 18?

Maybe its because he is almost as tall as I am.

Or that girls pay way more attention to him now than either one of us are used to.

Or in six years he can run to Kroger and pick up stuff for me, BY HIMSELF!

I feel like nine is a bit of a half way checkpoint on this parenting journey with him.  So I’ve been taking inventory, evaluating and praying that we are equipping him the way we should be.  If this is the halfway mark, I’m sure the rest will fly by.

I want him to be ready.  Ready to be who God has called him to be.

Happy Birthday, my sweet firstborn.

a little bit of this and that…

18 Apr

Wow!  I’ve missed you.  A lot going on around this house.  We went around the sick carousel ride again right after I wrote this post.  Then, our oldest had his Stanford Achievement Tests.  Sharpen up those number 2 pencils, and completely fill in those circles, please.

After that, we hit the zoo!

Love these little guys…

And of course the boys favorite…the slimy house.

Then on to another round of sickness…

An unexpected conference with my husband…

Where we sang a song written by these two amazing worship leaders.  I don’t talk about this often in a public way, but I love worshiping with this man.  I feel so blessed to get to stand beside him week in, week out and lead God’s people in worship.  He inspires me to an attitude of worship daily.  Not just on Sundays.  So, this unexpected thing amidst a busy time, was a welcome blessing.

And preparing for a ten day trip coming up next week.  Oh wow.  I hate packing.

So life’s been happening, but I have come across some amazing things that have been super encouraging to me over these last few days.  Here is one from the wonderful people at incourage.

Then, I am always encouraged by this cool mom’s ideas.

And finally, a word.  Turning my “waiting room” into a “work room.”  Deciding not to feel stuck in an unpleasant situation by complaining or having a rotten attitude.  But, getting busy being what I need to be until God says, “Wendy, it’s time.”

Happy week to y’all.
